Twisted by Emma Chase

4 Stars
Arc provided by author in exchange for an honest review

Twisted is the continuing love story of Drew and Kate, told mainly from Kate’s POV. Emma Chase presents an insight into the couple’s relationship two years down the road and I’m happy to say that Drew and Kate’s love life is more sizzling and hotter than ever. (The kitchen scene was spectacular *swoon*) Kate is still stubborn and Drew is just…Drew. He’s still witty, sexy, charming, adorable and most of all - EXASPERATING.

Things seem to be hunky dory for our delightful couple until suddenly a HUGE misunderstanding takes place, altering their lives forever. (Misunderstanding is an understatement – the domino effect of this event is immeasurable).  Drew behaves like a total ass, but that’s par for the course.  He manages to hurt Kate in such a way that turns both their lives upside down.  UGH! I wanted to slap him so hard and scream “WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU”!

Alas, Drew  crushed Kate’s heart. Yes, he was irrational. Yes, he single-handily screwed up their relationship. And yes, his stupidity causes both to be miserable and brokenhearted.  I do not fault Kate for being angry, for Drew is completely to blame for the riff created.  Drew, you son of a bitch – you frustrated the shit out of me.

Needless to say, Kate is not the type of chick who puts up with crap. So, she takes some time to reflect and tries to put her life back together.  It is here we see a different side of Kate as she re-connects with her family, old friends and Billy.  Of course Dee Dee pops in, ball busting and providing Kate with the much-needed comic relief during this dismal time. I felt horrible for Kate. Enduring such sorrow, as her life is shattered leaving her in limbo. BUT, Kate did manage to severely piss me off with her reprehensible actions and crazy thoughts. These two characters really tried my patience, & I loved every minute of it.

Things become difficult for Drew during this time. (Good, he deserves it for being such an asshole). Just when I had my fill of his shenanigans, he surprises me.  The jovial jokester channels his serious side – and treats Kate to an emotional outburst proclaiming his undying love for her. Who would have thought Drew could pull sincerity off?   Phew, so happy these two FINALLY managed to clear the air and work through their issues.  It was a rough and tumble roll through much of their story. Now, all is good in the world of Drew and he’s back to the wisecracking snarky bastard I’ve come to love.

All in all, I enjoyed this read.  It was more serious than I would have imagined, based on the first installment, but it did not disappoint.  The hilarity level was toned down a bit, but the heat created by these two was outstanding.  For fans of Tangled, Twisted is a MUST READ.
