What a wonderful ending to Nina
Lane's Daring Hearts Series. Since meeting Alexander Hall's little sister in A
Study in Seduction, I wanted her story, and wow, this was such an incredibly
emotional, angsty and passion-filled read. Two lifelong friends, both harboring
secret desires, embarked on a journey towards love that pulled on my
heartstrings. This tale will stay with me for quite some time, and
unsurprisingly, it was yet another brilliantly written romance. It had me on
edge, savoring each moment spent with this couple. I thoroughly enjoyed A Dream
of Desire—5 brilliant stars for James Forester and Tasha Hall's slow-burning,
tender and heartwarming love story.
I simply adored Tasha.
Strong-minded and tenacious, she was a woman who knew what she wanted out of
life and worked hard to achieve her goals. An advocate for those who were less
fortunate, she struggled to fight for the rights of those considered
delinquents - the young lads discarded by society. She pursued these efforts
despite her place in society and the shame which plagued the Hall family
brought on by her scandalous mother. Her endeavors to educate and reform those
boys were admirable.
Tasha was head over heels in love
with her brother Alexander's best friend. For as long as she could remember,
she envisioned a life with James and finally decided it was time to make her
intentions known. But James, stubborn as he was, fought against his true
feelings for Tasha. Surviving a painful childhood and an abusive father, James
vowed never to marry and was content to adventure and sail worldwide, escaping
the life he lived in London. Not one to settle or back down from a challenge,
Tasha never gave up on the only man she will ever love.
James was the perfectly flawed, swoon-worthy hero who, despite his
hesitations, had an obsessive need to protect the woman who secretly owned his
heart. James fought long and hard against his true desires, but Tasha was no
match for this explorer. He traveled the world but could not escape her - she
was always at the forefront of his thoughts. The tension and push and pull of
their relationship had me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire
read.
I loved this couple as their chemistry, although slow-burning, was
intense. The overly sexy James, with all of his worldly charms, quickly became
a favorite hero in this series. His love and devotion to Tasha, as well as his
drive to keep her safe, completely won me over.
I'm so glad I took a leap of faith and trusted Nina Lane to
introduce me to the literary world of Historical Romances. Her descriptive
tales never disappoint, and A Dream of Desire was no exception. Overall, this
was an enjoyable read with a plot that gripped me from the very beginning. I
highly recommend it, especially to fans of historical romances with a heavy
dose of suspense. I do hope Lane continues with the series, as many secondary characters
fascinated me, and I would love to enjoy their stories as well.
I voluntarily read an advance copy of this publication.
